overweight hemorrhoids

About how long does a hemorrhoid take to go away when using Preparation H?

I’m an 18 year old male, and I have an external hemorrhoid. It is not thrombosed, and not even really painful. It doesn’t bleed, but it is annoying. I’ve had it for about 5 days, and I just started using Preparation H. Does anyone have an estimate for when it might go away?
Also, I eat enough fiber (I’ve been eating even more now) and I’m not overweight.

The short answer is that Preparation-H will not make an external hemorrhoid go away. Prep-H is designed for pain and inflammation relief by providing topical vasoconstrictors (inflammation relief) and pain relieving compounds designed to numb the area a bit.

External hemorrhoids are essentially veins located near the anal verge (the area surrounding just inside and outside the anus) that have weakened. Once the wall of the vein weakens enough, it will balloon out and push out into any open space, forming a lump on the outside or just inside the anus.

All hemorrhoids tend to be chronic. They are essentially damaged tissue and have difficulty repairing themselves because they are continually impacted by passing fecal matter on a regular basis, making it hard for them to repair themselves. Everyone is a bit different and those with poor vascular health, for example, find it more difficult to manage than someone who is otherwise in excellent health.

Your external hemorrhoid may last for many weeks and then spontaneously begin to retract. Don’t be surprised if it returns without any warning. Unfortunately, although many ideas have been advanced, researchers really don’t understand the exact mechanism that causes them to form. Education is the key though. There are a few steps you can take to mitigate their formation and help improve the healing of what you already have.

Good Luck!

What are some pregnancy terms that I can use in pictionary for a baby shower?

I am organising my best friends baby shower, and thought that pictionary with baby and pregnancy terms would be fun. But I don’t really know enough terms. This is what I have so far:
baby
baby shower
nappy
pacifier
breast feed
breast pump
haemorrhoids (!)
placenta
potty
nappy rash
toddler
safety pin
baby formula

Any other fun baby shower games would be great too!

Can I make my hemorrhoids worse by doing normal every day stuff even tho it hurts?

HI Emma

Here are some ideas to heal the issue. Drink a gallon of water a day (I do) to start moving out excess waste (colon) and toxins that are in the blood. Also, be sure to do a colon cleanse to help resolve the issue.

Cause
Hemorrhoids are often the result of poor diet, constipation or a sluggish bowel, straining during bowel movements, chronic low-level dehydration, lack of exercise, and/or a sedentary lifestyle. Correcting these factors can be very helpful in preventing and eliminating hemorrhoids.

Caution: Bleeding during bowel movements needs to be checked to rule out other more serious conditions. If you experience blood in your stool, seek immediate medical attention.

Natural Cures

Aromatherapy: Cypress, juniper, frankincense, or niaouli.

Ayurveda: Drink 1/2 cup of aloe vera juice three times daily until symptoms clear. The Ayurvedic herbal compound triphala is also very effective for relieving hemorrhoid pain and for promoting the overall health of the gastrointestinal tract.

Diet: Eat an organic, whole foods diet that emphasizes high-fiber foods, plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables (especially dark green, leafy vegetables, such as kale), grains such as brown rice and millet, and lean, organic meats and poultry. Also drink plenty of healthy beverages, such as herbal teas, fresh squeezed juice, and pure, filtered water.

Flower Essences: Rescue Remedy Cream® can be applied to external hemorrhoids to ease symptoms.

Herbs: The aptly named herb pilewort is a staple treatment for hemorrhoids in Europe because of its effectiveness in reducing hemorrhoid symptoms. Collinsonia is another highly effective herbal remedy for hemorrhoids. As a topical application, mix 10 ml of collinsonia tincture with 80 ml of distilled witch hazel and apply this combination after every bowel motion and as needed. Other useful herbs include bilberry, buckthorn bark, butcher`s broom, comfrey root, gotu kola, parsley, passionflower, and stone root.

Homeopathy: Aloe, Hamamelis, Nux vom., Berberis, Acidum fluor., and Thuja are helpful homeopathic remedies.

Juice Therapy: The following juice combinations can help keep the bowels regular and soften stools: carrot, spinach, celery, and parsley; carrot and watercress; or beet juice.

Nutritional Supplementation: The following nutrients can help prevent and reverse hemorrhoids: vitamin C with bioflavonoids and rutin, vitamin A, beta carotene, vitamin B complex, folic acid, essential fatty acids, magnesium, potassium, and zinc. Linseed oil (one teaspoon upon arising and at night) can also be used to help soften stools.

Topical Treatment: Apply a combination of zinc oxide, vitamin E, and aloe vera gel or olive oil to the affected area. Witch hazel applied topically can help shrink hemorrhoids, while calendula ointment can help relieve pain and itching.

Best of health to you

bright red blood in stool??

hello. i am 26 y/o healthy male. i have been shitting blood with my stool for a week or so now. couple days ago i went to the bathroom and nothing came out except for blood, not a lot but like some (maybe like 6 drops or so). i went and saw my physician the other day and after a very thorough exam he told me that i have no hemorrhoids (internal or external), he gave me a referral to see a gastroenterologist and performed CBC blood test, blood test came back normal. See i am healthy, i exercise and diet is about the same as it has been for the last 5 years or so. i d k why i am shitting bright red blood. i don’t usually panic about things but this one is kinda worrying me. does anyone know what it is or have been through the same experience. please tell, thank you

Hmmm, the other answerer is a little bit harsh.

Although what she says could potentially occur, it rarely does.

I’ve had much more serious bleeding than what you describe and it didn’t worry my doctor for 2 cents.

If you keep being constipated by this or your stools get really dark and dry, then you should consult another doctor though. But for now, don’t stress too much about it.
