I have noticed a slight abdominal pain, just above my hip on the left side, and seems to be bloody stool?

First off, I’m a teenage girl. The first word I would use to describe the pain is sharp. Not because it is very painful, because it’s not, it’s quite dull, but I notice it and know exactly where it comes from. It’s not one of those all-over, difficult to pinpoint pains. I first assumed it was a pulled muscle. However, it hurts more while using the bathroom and I noticed a very very faint, easily missed reddish something coming off of stool. The stool itself is not discolored in any way, but the faint red is making me wonder if it’s blood. I have been trying to remember if I’ve eaten anything brightly colored, knowing that that could have colored the stool. I don’t have any pain anywhere else, and I doubt highly that it’s hemorrhoids or anal fissures.

I hate to sound argumentative, but I always thought that was the BOTTOM of the descending colon.

37 weeks pregnant with hemorrhoids!!!!!!!!!!?

Im 37 weeks pregnant and 3 days ago developed a bloody big hemorrhoid which hurts so much. Im currently using a cream for it but it still hurts. I’m not really worried about it but my main concern is how am i going to give birth naturally with this thing attached to my anus. I’m scared if i push it’ll get worse and i know it will. Hemorrhoids are very common with pregnancy and I thought I was lucky because I went my entire pregnancy without one, but then I got one while giving birth. Now, it is just as you are describing. It is super painful. You can have it removed at like a walk-in clinic after you give birth. It is very painful to have removed, but you will feel better after it is gone and healed. Good luck.

How can I stop these hemorrhoids?

I just started having pain about 3 days ago. So far I have tried everything I could find…
-Sitting In Warm Baths (doesn’t really help)
-Prep H (doesn’t really help)

I’ve been readign contradicting information on the treatment of hemorrhoids lately. On the one hand, a lot of sources say that sitz baths are really helpful and they recommend doing them 2-4 times daily. On the other hand, a lot of sources say that you shouldn’t sit on the toilet for too long because that put more pressure on the hemorrhoids. I’ve been doing the baths and the latter seems to be correct. I feel a lot more discomfort and the situation seems to be worsening. Am I doing anything wrong??

Should I go see a doctor for bloody stools?

Ever since I was in middle school, I have had occasional bloody stools when using the bathroom. I am now 16 years old and it still happens to me. I know I have hemorrhoids and I often get constipated… but could it be something more? The blood on the stools are usually red, but not bright red. Should I go see a doctor? If so, what type of doctor should I see? I have no experience in making appointments with doctors since I rarely ever go see the doctor…I’m really afraid that I may have cancer.

Don’t panic. Sounds like hemorroids that are just getting worse. Go to your regular g.p. first, and let them refer you if you need a gastroenterologist, if they think you need it. In the meantime, go to the pharmacy and ask for a a stool softener (this is not a laxative, it simply “moisturizes” your stool, making them easier to pass.) When you get to your g.p., you may also want to ask him to check you for pin worms or other parasites. These can cause bloody stools and intense itching. And use moistened tissues to wipe with, or some of those Prepartion H wipes. These are basically like baby wipes moistened with witch hazel rather than water.

What I found worked for me was to only do a short sitzbath after I used the bathroom. I agree, when I would use it more often or longer, I felt worse. Once I started to feel better, I would just hop in the shower after, instead of the sitzbath. Hope you feel better soon!! It’s MISERABLE!!
