Or are there certain types of food or ingredients that can make things worse. Also can stress have an affect, and are hemorrhoids hereditary? My mother had an operation for them when she was 40, and my father is 64 and has never had them. I am in my early 30′s and had my first one at 30 and second one a month ago, is there anything I can do to help prevent flare up?
There is some thought that hemorrhoids my be somewhat hereditary. There seems to be a familial tendency, although it probably plays a small role.
We actually all have hemorrhoids. What causes problems is when they swell, causing symptoms (most commonly pain, itching and bright red blood from trauma).
Things you can do to prevent a flare-up include: avoid constipation, weight loss (if you’re obese), avoid prolonged sitting – whether at work or on the toilet, wash that area regularly.
Fiber supplements and eating a diet high in fiber are very helpful because they keep you regular and keep the stool softer, reducing the trauma that may cause a hemorrhoid to get worse. Stool softeners are also helpful during a flare-up because it allows that area to heal.
I’ve had (what I believe to be) an internal hemorrhoid for a few days and it’s become very painful, if not impossible to pass a BM. The hemorrhoid is painful enough, and when I clean it i have a little bit of pinkish red on the tissue. I bought Preporation H suppositories and some natural stool softeners today, and took both. How long can I expect this nasty thing, and any suggestions on dealing with the intense pain of trying to BM?
I suggest seeing a doctor as soon as possible! However you can also use baby teething gel to numb the area. Hemorrhoids can last days, weeks and even months. Make sure not to strain when having a bm. I would also suggest using baby wipes instead of toilet paper, just make sure you have a special trash can next to your toilet, these are not flush-able.
Is it possible that there may be internal hemorrhoids that cause blood to appear during defecation?
Could be colon cancer?
Note that the blood appears on the anus but not on the feces.
Also the hemorrhoids are not external (are not visible)
You are exactly right about internal hemorrhoids causing the blood.
Unless you are an old person or have a strange family history of colon cancer striking members at a young age, don’t worry until your are 50.

I have 3 hemorrhoids. They were itching so I put cortisone 10 on them. No they are very painful. What happened and what should I do to stop the pain?
Cortisone 10 isn’t made for hemorrhoids. Try Preparation H cooling gel. The main ingredient phenylephrine constricts the blood flow and reduces swelling. You can also try a sitz bath, a sitz bath is where you fill you tub with enough water to fully submerse your bottom in.The water should be warm enough to be almost uncomfortable, but not warm enough to burn. Do this for about 20-30 minutes. Be sure to pat dry the area well. You can do this several times a week. If they continue to be sore then seek medical attention.

What exactly is a hermorrhoid and what are the symptoms?
I’m asking because I’ve never had one, but I’m pregnant now and I’m afraid I might. Sorry in advance for this, but I took a crap last night and my butt itched and burned so bad I had trouble falling asleep. Today it still hurts a little. I wasn’t constipated and it wasn’t a big crap so I am afraid it might be a hemorrhoid.
Hemorrhoids are enlarged, painful veins in the rectum.
The most common symptom of internal hemorrhoids is bright red blood covering the stool, on toilet paper, or in the toilet bowl ,an internal hemorrhoid may protrude through the anus outside the body, becoming irritated and painful. Symptoms of external hemorrhoids may include painful swelling or a hard lump around the anus that results when a blood clot forms
Pregnancy makes you more prone to hemorrhoids.
Hemorrhoids can be treated easily but as soon as possible or it tends to get worse over the years.
Buy regular Annusol ointment or suppository over the counter for itching relief and healing.
The best way to prevent hemorrhoids is to keep stools soft so they pass easily by eating lots of veggies and drinking enough water.
